American Printing House for the Blind, Maxi-Aids
Place of Origin:
Louisville, KY
Provenance:
Introduced in 2000 to meet the need for a low-cost computer monitor magnifier, especially for seniors. At the time, electronic magnifiers were not very good. ZoomView was a "pass-through" product, a rebranded version of an identical magnifier sold by Maxi-Aids under their "Reizen" trademark. By the time ZoomView was discontinued in 2014, electronic magnifiers were much improved, and many computers had built-in accessbility features to enlarge material shown on screen. Although inexpensive and easy to use, ZoomView was also limited by its x1.5 magnification.
