Interlining Braille Frame with Giant Dot Guide
Description:
Consists of a left-hinged metal guide for writing jumbo (giant dot) braille, a composition wooden board with drilled holes to accommodate the guide, a removable hinged-metal clamp to hold paper, and the original cardboard container. Guide has 2 lines of 15 cells and 2 pins on reverse to fit in board. Board has 7 holes in a recessed area along either side for 14 lines of writing. Clamp fits at top of board and has 3 pins and a swivel lever to secure paper, which can be turned without removing for interlining. For use with 10.25 x 7.5 in. paper. Catalog no. 9017 on box; giant dot guide is catalog no. 9023. Stylus is missing from this set.

This slate set belonged to the Erie District of the Bureau of Braille and Visual Services in Pennsylvania before being donated to the APH Museum.
The Royal National Institute for the Blind sold the Interlining Braille Frame as a set, and the Giant Dot Guide was offered as an alternative to the standard guide that came with the set. Appears in the 1977 RNIB Apparatus and Games Price List.
