The #11 was a heavier duty version of the aluminum Howe Press #1. The EZ-Read feature, introduced in 1965, flipped the location of the pins on a slate, allowing the slate to be opened and the braille read without removing the paper from the pins. The #11 had been removed from the Howe catalog by 1991.

Texas as a medical technician for the armed forces, and was an avid collector of slates. He was the uncle of Charles Zinser, who acquired the slate collection after Ronecker's death.
