Provenance:
A prototype offered to the APH product development team by Advance Engineering Works in Dehradun, India. AEW was founded in 1982 to manufacture braille writing tools, educational aids, canes, and other products for people who are blind or visually impaired. APH reviewers found it compact, portable, rugged, and a reasonable solution to the preceived problem of "backward" brailling, but also found that it made shadow dots in unused dots within a brailled cell, and that it required very precise placement of the stylus to create an acceptable dot.
