Anodized gold aluminum postcard slate; curled piano hinge; four (4) lines of nineteen (19) braille cells; windows in top frame guide placement of stylus; bottom frame stamped with indented braille cell under each opening in the top frame; slight cutout in open end of lower frame facilitates opening; four paper registration pins up from bottom frame fit into countersunk holes in upper frame; stamped on top, "AMER. PRINTING HOUSE FOR THE BLIND LOUISVILLE, KY".

Provenance:
APH introduced its first anodized aluminum pocket slate in its 1953 catalog. The 19 cell postcard slate became available in the 1963 catalog in anodized blue aluminum. By 1969, both the pocket and the postcard slate were available in anodized gold and the blue model had been discontinued. Sometime in the 1990s, the aluminum slates transitioned to an uncolored bright aluminum finish.
