Board features core glued up from solid maple strips and faced on top and bottom with natural finish maple veneer; vertical grooves on sides, each drilled with seven (7) peg holes; two holes drilled in center for slate storage; nickel alloy paper clamp riveted to top, pair of piano hinges on long sides flank a raised tube, two pins-up on base of clamp, raised loop on front facilitates opening; four (4) wood dowel feet on base.

Provenance:
APH began making a 4 line, 41 cell desk slate in 1981. It was discontinued in 2008. This style of pins-up paper clamp, based on the Perkins Model 13 desk slate from Howe Press, had been introduced as early as 1940.
