Bright aluminum panel, folded over onto itself; single semicircle cutout on one side, three on the other; circle cutout in top with raised dimple underneath (provides tension on card as it is brailled); four (4) rows of six (6) braille cell guides, top guides have slight dimples to guide placement of stylus; stamped "HOWE PRESS/PERKINS SCHOOL/WATERTOWN, MASS."

Part of a collection assembled at APH, possibly to research competitor's writing tools. The Howe Memorial Press at the Perkins Institute in Watertown, Mass. began developing and manufacturing slates and other tools in the late 19th century.
