Valentin Hauy Magazine first mentioned the crossword puzzle kit from the American Braille Press in 1930. ABP was founded in Paris, France in 1925, an outgrowth of the Permanent Blind War Relief Fund which was formed during WWI. Helen Keller served on its board. The Press changed its name in 1946 to the American Foundation for Overseas Blind and became closely associated with the American Foundation for the Blind. AFOB became Helen Keller International in 1977.
The National Institute for the Blind in England carried this ABP product in their 1932 and 1933 catalogs as #9280.
