The Cubarithm was originally introduced by Oury in France in 1886. APH introduced its own version of the cubarithm arithmetic frame in 1953. Correspondence on file suggests that the company had been developing a cubarithm model for many years and had discarded several prototype versions after consultation with the field. It discontinued the red vinyl model in 1972 but continued selling stock on hand until at least 1977.
