Scope & Content:
Mary Nelle McLennan, Executive Advisor to the President, joined the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) in 1982 as a braille editor and field representative. She became director of the company's newly formed Department of Educational and Advisory Services in 1988, and Vice President of Product and Services in 1997. She talks about her responsibilities over the years at APH, including two of her largest projects: computerization of the company's Central Catalog of accessible books that eventually evolved into the Louis database, and development of ATIC (Accessible Braille Textbook Initiative Collaboration). Additional topics include the APH management reorganization of 1997, and the company's development of the Virgil Zickel Award, the Creative Use of Braille Award, and its InSights Art competition.
