Description:
Black and white photo is mounted on a white card with double lines of gilt trim on front. A blind man wearing tinted eyeglasses is seated at right and is holding a cane in his left hand. He has a full beard and mustache and is wearing a long dark jacket with lighter trousers. Standing at his right is a young boy with short hair. He is wearing a shirt with ruffle trim at the collar and cuffs, and light trousers. He is holding the right hand of the man. Possibly father and son. Printed at center on the back of the carte is "S. J. Fowler, 77 Genesee Street, Auburn, N.Y." The same man appears to be in other photos in the museum collection; see 2001.176 and 2003.127. Cartes de visite were popular during the Civil War era. Photograph is faded and has some spotting; slight foxing on back.
