Rigid aluminum long cane with 1.875" internal diameter crook, white plastic cap on open end of crook; black rubber "GRIP RITE" putter style grip; 1/2" diameter tubing, no taper, wrapped in middle with 28" of white Scotchlite reflective adhesive; 6" of red Scotchlite above .625" diameter friction fit white nylon pencil tip.

Provenance:
Russell Williams, head of the V.A. Blind Rehabilitation Center in Hines, IL, issued specifications for the long cane which were religiously followed in the design of the Precision Grinding Company's "Typhlocane." The original design featured a screw-in tip, which was later adapted to a friction fit tip which promised to provide longer wear life.
