Ivory fiberglass long cane, tapers from 1/2" dia below grip to 5/16" dia at tip; straight handle with green transparent plastic grip; white-metal bead chain wrist loop; gold plastic pommel cap; panhead screw serves as tip.

Provenance:
The "Iowa Cane" was marketed by the Iowa Department for the Blind. The green handle is a trademarked design element. This cane was based upon the Rainshine cane, and became the inspiration for the NFB fiberglass cane of almost identical design. Origin dates around 1974, when its development is mentioned in an article by Paula Hahle in the Braille Monitor, and still available in this form up to 2004 when it was slightly redesigned.
