Ponder was an O&M instructor at Florida State University beginning in the late 1960s. Mike Elliott was an undergraduate and graduate student at FSU who later became the elementary principal at the Georgia Academy for the Blind, Georgia State Deaf Blind Coordinator, and Superintendent of the Georgia School for the Deaf.
