Provenance:
Approved for production in October 1979 by the APH Educational Aids Committee, the PSDM were field tested that year at ten different sites. The project head was Sheri Moore, assisted by Suzette Frere and Bill Duckworth. The product entered the production pipeline in 1980, was introduced as a new product in 1982, and first appeared in the APH catalog in 1984. The set was designed for beginning instruction of the multihandicapped/visually impaired student. The materials and guidebook developed fine motor skills, matching, counting, assembling, and packaging skills. The full kit, of which this item was but a part, included five sets of materials, including a paper-folding jig, square and round containers in seated boards, sorting and assembly tray, bolt-nut-washer board, and bolt practice boards. It was still in the catalog as of 2011.
