APH introduced its "Bright Sights" visual perception kit in 1986, which included the use of a black light. By the late 1990s, research had confirmed that high doses of UV light were harmful to developing eyes. The company introduced this pass-through line of UV protective glasses in 1999, and discontinued its own use of black lights in its products.
