Wooden spelling case; top has grooves in which small wood pieces with raised letters of the alphabet fit and slide; letters painted black and include upper and lower case letters, periods, and ampersands; pieces can be moved along the grooves to three horizontal grooves located in the middle of the case to form words and sentences; blue paper label glued to top left side of the case, "Amusement With Instruction, The Spelling Case, JW Schermerhorn & Co., Publishers & Manufacturers, 30 E. 14th St., N.Y.
