Sepia-toned photo mounted on card stock. Shows an elderly woman seated at a cloth-covered table, in an ornately carved wood-back chair, reading a book by touch. She is wearing dark eyeglasses. Her long dark dress has bishop sleeves and a large white collar. The ribbons of her dark cap are tied beneath her chin. "Philip Wright's Photograph Gallery, 512 N. Second Street, Below Buttonwood, Philadelphia" is printed on the center back of the card. Cartes de visite were popular during the Civil War era.
