Description:
The front of the carte shows a black and white photo of a man who is standing next to a cloth-draped prop, upon which his left arm is resting. The man may be blind. He has a mustache and full-length beard and is wearing a dark, knee-length coat with lighter-colored pants and vest. Another photograph, probably of the same man, is mounted to the back of the carte, but the top portion and sides are torn away so that his face is not visible, with the exception of a small part of his beard. The front of the carte has two lines of gilt trim around the edges. Cartes de visite were popular during the Civil War era.
